After releasing 'Sunrise Embrace the Stagnant' I found myself utterly sick of both metal, and technical music. This lead me to spending months listening to nothing but new music. I couldn't write anything serious. I didn't know where to begin, because I was processing so much new information and taking so much inspiration from new music that I just had no idea what I wanted to do anymore. In mid august 2015 I began writing this and by the end of that month it was pretty much finished. It just erupted out of me. It captures a moment in time where I was in such a weird state, in so many ways.
One thing I did know I wanted to do before writing this, was distance myself from the whole notion that music should be this packaged product that we're all so used to. I'm sick of every band sticking to the verse/chorus structure. I'm sick of music having no dynamics or breathing space. I'm sick of it having to engage the listener straight away, I just wanted to get away from that whole idea of trying to sell a product to fans by drilling your catchy melody into their head. Music should flow like water, like nature, like life, not be compressed into some artless product.
So I found myself really delving into symphonies. I loved the space, and the fact that composers just allow the music to flow where it feels like it should go. It's how music should be approached. I'm in no way opposed to the verse/chorus structure, but I think most musicians limit themselves by thinking it's the only option. I wrote this song with the intent to create something purely based on feelings, to just let it flow like a symphony. I discarded everything I'd been taught and just wrote what felt right.
Like all my Chii stuff there's a whole story/concept behind this piece which I'll expand upon at some point for those interested.
